"Introduction to Drafting" Textbook: Professional Careers, Office Practice, and Opportunities
Here are my answers to the questions at the end of Chapter 1.
1. A junior drafter
might be expected to perform revision of sketches drawn by others,
make drawings based on sketches, running deliveries, making copies,
obtaining permits.
2. Three skills
required of a junior drafter for advancement are to draw detailed
correct drawings, to have an understanding of plans, use proper line
and lettering.
3. Types of drawings
that a junior drafter should be expected to draw are: correcting
drawings done by others, drawing based on sketches, making
adjustments to old drawings for a similar projects.
4. Junior drafter
will be given sketches done by superior as guide or will be expected
to correct drawings done by others.
5. Drafter will be
expected to determine structural sizes, make renderings, make
paperwork.
6. For sources of
information that a drafter will need to use are sketches by
supervisor, Sweet’s Catalog, Architectural Graphics, Time Saver
Standards.
7. Types
of drawings done by designers are light
commercial buildings, residential, municipality drawings, making
floor and foundation plans and section drawings.
8.
Architecture students are
required to take classes in logic, art, psychology and philosophy to
develop abstract thinking.
9.
Engineering students are required to develop a good understanding of
math and science because it is their job to make sure that the
structure will be safe and interact correctly with the forces of
nature.
10.
Inspector, construction worker, designer, engineer, architect,
specifications writer, illustrator, model maker.
